Recording, music production

I have worked as a freelance audio recording engineer specializing in acoustic music recording for over 7 years.  In 2004, along with Packy Lundholm, I founded Recording Jones, a location recording service that completed over 120 location recordings of concerts and sessions for acoustic musics (classical, jazz) and multitrack recordings for rock/pop groups.  Since then, I have gone on to work as a recording and live sound engineer at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and continued working freelance recording engineer.

Currently, I record the concerts of Sinfonia da Camera and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.

Sound Design

I am active as a sound designer for dance, theatre and video.

In fall 2010, I designed sound for November Dance, the Fall main stage concert of Dance at Illinois at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  Choreographers included Rebecca Nettl-Fiol, Linda Lehovec, Kirstie Simson, Paige Cunningham and Grace Courvoisier.

In March 2010, I collaborated with experiential environment designer Grant Bowen in the creation of Verses That Hurt, a poetic/musical/theatrical work, as sound designer, and co-producer.

I am currently developing an MFA Thesis performance Resonance Too, a site-specific sound/music/movement work with original music to be premiered Spring 2012, exploring unintended acoustic resonance in a Krannert Center parking garage – a space designed for its utility, not its acoustic properties.
